Thoughts Create Reality...
...I am in the midst of re-writing some web page content for life coaching and it ocurred to me that I haven't written a blog post about this topic for a long time.
How you think affects how you feel.
How you feel affects decisions you make.
The decisions you make create your reality.
So, in short your thoughts create reality.
We have approximately 70'000 thoughts per day. (Goodness knows how they measured that, but it was part of a long-term study of students at Harvard.)
If the majority of those thoughts are negative, then we are unwittingly making decisions with the expectation the outcome will be negative. Our actions will reflect this and therefore we attract more negativity into our lives.
So, what can we do to change this?
We need to find a trigger word, sound or picture that will remind us to think more positively. Mine goes something like this - "Stop. Thinking like this is not effective. What's the lesson I need to learn here?"
Sometimes just becoming aware of when we are thinking negatively is enough to curb this old habit.
It's difficult at first, but after approximately 20-30 days of consistently making an effort, you will start seeing the payoff. And when that first a-ha moment happens, that's all you will need to encourage you to keep going at it, to get the next a-ha moment.
Trust me, this stuff works. From someone who was 'stuck' in the deep darkness of Post Natal Depression, I have personal experience of turning my thoughts (and therefore my life) around. Don't believe me? Check this out.
Yes, I still have some negative thoughts. Those who follow me on Twitter or are a friend on Facebook will see that just the other day I was having doubts about my ability to run a business on top of being a mum, and expecting another baby soon. It's all part of my ongoing development.
The key for all of us, is to not dwell on the thoughts and let them control decisions we make; we must control them in order to control our future.
