How To Take Back What You've Said

During the heat of the moment it's all too easy to say something you regret later. But it can be taken back - if you don't leave it too long to do so.

Lying and keeping a secret are usually more destructive than owning up to your feelings. Honesty really is the best policy.

After an argument, leave it a day or so before apologising. Listen (with your own defenses down) to the person you have upset without interrupting and try to see it from their point of view. Though you don't want to be a pushover, you do need to value the other person's opinion.

And if your relationship is worth keeping, then in time, you will both overcome the difference between you.
