...Breathe In, Breathe Out...

In my work as a life coach for mums, all too often I get my clients coming to the call stressed. I can just about hear their heart pounding down the line and feel their crossed leg swinging frantically.

Ready for their coaching session? I don't think so!

Before we begin I take these clients through a simple, do-anywhere exercise. It works EVERY time. Please share it with your loved ones because they will benefit too. And don't forget to include your kids! There's no minimum age requirement on teaching relaxation techniques. I do this with my 4YO.

Imagine a cup of water - you will have filled it from the bottom up. Now do the same for your breathing. Take a deep breath and fill your stomach, then your ribs, and then your chest. Hold and count 1, 2 and let it go slowly. Do it again. Take your mind somewhere relaxing like a walk on a beach or a warm bath. Hold onto that thought while you count 1, 2 then breathe out slowly...Repeat as often as needed.

You can do this at your desk, waiting for your child to finish their tantrum, listening to your husband wonder where his clean shirts are...that's the beauty of this exercise. It can be private. No one will notice; except maybe the glazed look coming over your eyes. ;-)

Until next time, have a great week!
