Gwyneth Paltrow Talks About Her Post Natal Depression

The actress said she felt ‘like a robot’ when she was at her lowest ebb following his birth in 2006. Even now, she says she has no clear memories of his first few months.

It was only after the intervention of her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, that she sought help for the problem, she said.

Revealing the depth of her struggle, the Oscar-winning actress, 37, told Vogue magazine: ‘At my lowest, I was a robot.

‘I just didn’t feel anything. I had no maternal feelings for Moses – it was awful. I had no thoughts of harming him, thank God, but I couldn’t connect and still, when I look at pictures of him at three months old, I don’t remember that time.

‘My problem was that I never acknowledged anything was wrong.’ She said it was a relief when Martin, 33, said he thought she had the baby blues and suggested she seek help.
.The couple, who married in 2003, also have a five-year-old daughter, Apple. Previously Paltrow has said she had ‘post-natal euphoria’ after Apple was born.

Post-natal depression affects up to one in ten mothers. Other celebrities who have battled it include Elle Macpherson, Courteney Cox and Gail Porter.
