Working at home while looking after your kids is undoubtedly tough. Even if they are out in daycare, kindy or school you still have tempting distractions like loading the dishwasher, hanging out the washing (well, it's such a nice day, how can you resist?), or running the vacuum cleaner through the house while the kids are out. One word for you: STOP!
Here are some ways you can get your work AND your housework done.
1. Schedule
Know what you need or want to accomplish in your day and create a schedule. I like to take ten minutes to do this the night before. Your schedule may be flexible with big 'batches' of time for general things (business work in the morning, housework in the afternoon, evenings for family time) or it may be more precise with hourly plans (breakfast at 7am, check emails 8am, school run 8.30am etc.) It depends on your personality so try different strategies to find out what suits you and your family.
